Louis Icart Sheherazade Drypoint Etching (Scherezade, Scheherazade)
Beautiful 1927 Louis Icart Sheherazade drypoint etching with aquatint, pencil signed.
This is one of Icart's rarest etchings, and certainly one of his most exceptional.
The vibrant greens of the snake and throughout her headpiece, along with the strong deep blues of the sky, make this a truly remarkable etching. This captures the essence of her character in 1001 Arabian Nights.
The colors and plate lines are well-defined, as is the Windmill stamp in lower left corner.
Upper left reads "Copyright 1927 by Les Graveurs Modernes 194 R. Rivoli Paris."
The etching is in great condition. There is a small amount of foxing near the blind stamp (visible in the photos).
It comes unframed with a matte. The etching measures 20.5" x 13.5" and the sheet measures 28"x 22" (not including the matte).
